Contact Groups
What are Contact Groups?
Contact Groups let you organize your contacts into segments. For example, you might have groups like "VIP Customers", "Newsletter Subscribers", or "Event Attendees". When creating a campaign, you can target entire groups instead of selecting contacts one by one.
How to use it
Creating a group
- Go to Contact Groups from the sidebar
- Click Create Group
- Enter a group name
- Click Create to save the group
Adding contacts to a group
- Open a group by clicking on it
- Click Add Contacts
- Select contacts from your contact list and confirm
- The selected contacts will be added to the group
Adding new contacts directly to a group
- Open a group
- Click Add New Contact
- Fill in the contact details — the new contact will be created and automatically added to the group
Bulk uploading contacts to a group
- Open a group
- Click Bulk Upload
- Upload a CSV or Excel file with your contacts
- All contacts in the file will be added to this group
Removing contacts from a group
- Open the group
- Select the contacts you want to remove
- Click Remove to take them out of the group
Removing a contact from a group does not delete the contact from your account. It only removes them from that specific group.
Editing or deleting a group
- On the Contact Groups page, find the group you want to modify
- Click Edit to rename the group, or Delete to remove it entirely
- Deleting a group does not delete the contacts inside it

- Create groups based on your campaign needs — for example, separate groups for different products, locations, or customer types
- A contact can belong to multiple groups at the same time
- Use groups when creating campaigns to easily target the right audience
- Keep group names descriptive so your team can easily find the right one
- Regularly review and clean up groups that are no longer needed
Frequently asked questions
Can a contact be in multiple groups?
Yes. A contact can belong to as many groups as you want. They will only receive one message per campaign, even if they are in multiple selected groups.
What happens to contacts when I delete a group?
The contacts remain in your account. Deleting a group only removes the grouping — the individual contacts are not affected.
Is there a limit on group size?
There is no limit on how many contacts can be in a single group.
Can I create a group during bulk upload?
Yes. When you use the Bulk CSV upload feature from the Contact Groups page, you can create a new group and import contacts into it at the same time.
How do groups work with campaigns?
When creating a campaign, you can select one or more groups as recipients. Waplify will send the message to every contact in those groups.
